He would be quite the joker in the dressing room and
34:28
character the two of them were similar the two of them just used to bat each other like the slagging and whatever and then slag everybody else as well but going back to the playing side Ian Durant it's actually probably only after I finished playing you realise how good a player he was maybe watch old games and we're beating Aberdeen 4-0 at Rugby Park Ian Durant is spraying the ball here there and everywhere scoring goals I watched a couple of goals there, he drilled one into the top corner, but it was his overall play, it wasn't so much his goal scoring, it was his creative side, Ian Durant, well obviously I'd be playing behind him, and he'd be playing middle of the park, and he'd play a wee 10 yard pass, And you're going, God, I didn't even see that.
35:13
That's came from the neighbour.
35:15
But it's just some great vision.
35:16
And the great players use it later years, like Laurie, who have come across, the threes have come across, like the boy Eremenko.
35:23
I didn't see him much because it wasn't about, I was involved in football with Brechin probably at that time.
35:29
but Eremenko they say was a class footballer and yous would appreciate him but Ian Durant was in my time was up there with the best no doubt about it and the shame for Ian was obviously he didn't fulfil his potential but due to his injury he probably had to change his game and he changed his game that he became that playmaker type instead of the running getting on the end of things into the box but he was a fantastic player A great trainer, Ian Durant.

So, it is frustrating sometimes watching that um you know obviously you watch kelly as well do you find that sometimes it is a bit too frustrating when there's too much passing at the back
0:50
When and where did you learn how to play football, and how did you get into it?
0:54
I mean, I always played football as a young kid, probably like yourself, Brian, back in the day.
0:58
Man, grew up in the '70s.
1:01
It's really all, think you probably had was a ball, and so that was the only thing you probably...
1:05
Well, the only sport that I got involved in.
1:07
So I had two brothers and a sister, but the two brothers, we were out all the time playing football, and all your mates round about the wee scheme that I stayed in, in Hurdleford, uh, in Ayrshire.
1:17
Uh, that's when everybody played football.

Is there anything you could give advice-wise to the young players coming through academies, et cetera, now?
