So that concept of student for life, is there a way to lay out, like, what does that look like? Differently, if we take that seriously, did you always take it seriously? Was it something that you really grew into and realized, oh, crap, this is what he's talking about? Was there any sort of like transition period for you that you remember? Or is that something that was just always ingrained and you kind of took it and ran? Because you embody that to me as well.
10:13
Oh, I will say that my father was the greatest example to watch be the student for life.
10:19
I mean, he learned how to play the piano at age 40.
10:23
And if we back it up a little bit, when my father was in the Philippines, he had a few different career paths that he was interested in and that were very available to him.
10:31
So he could have become a physician.
10:33
He could have become an actor in basically the Hollywood of the Philippines because he was lighter skinned Filipino, handsome guy.
10:41
they wanted him for Hollywood.

How do you keep... that overwhelm to a minimum and like what's a good starting point to start to dive into the mindset you're talking about like the willingness piece the awareness piece and then the preparedness piece what's some advice you have entry-level advice to start start working through that mindset and actually start moving the needle to being a more prepared human
40:40
How did the years that you spent in education shape the way you eventually approached instruction and leadership?
40:49
There's only I mean, I teach very conceptually.
40:52
And what I mean by that is, you know, a concept could be student focused instruction where the teacher stands back and the students kind of guide their own instruction.
41:03
Right.
41:03
Another concept could be instructor focused instruction, you know, where it's lecture focused.
41:09
And I would look at the way that different kids learned, right? Some kids had to be very hands-on, you know, they had to be very physical.
41:18
And we know that there are physical learners out there where they could watch something, never understand it.

And looking back on it, what did those seasons in life specifically teach you about resilience and rebuilding and perspective? I've had two hard resets, two

Yep

... does not have a lot of sensitivity to a lot of things except for caffeine.
29:42
So I was like, "He doesn't like dark chocolate, milk chocolate, but he can do white chocolate." I was like, "Could we do a white chocolate bar with macadamia and coconut?" He goes, "Absolutely." So he sent me samples of it.
29:54
I let my friends and my friends' wives try it, and they're like, "Oh, this one's definitely better than this one." So then we designed a cover for the candy bar, and, uh, it was pretty funny because I sent him, like, clip art of, like, General Hawk from G.I.
30:11
Joe with his .45 in the air, like, storming the beaches, and a palm tree.
30:15
And, like, he managed to pull together some amazing artwork for the cover, and now I have a bar called the Beachhead bar.
30:22
And it has a map-

... tell me this aoudad story
