So, um, basically when I started my doctorate, I came across this article by Professor Carmel Khan, and they have written a number of, of really amazing articles.

And also Professor Dan Goodley, and, uh, I think it's Katherine Runswick-Cole, they've written something about the emancipation of disabled play.

And you know that moment when your entire belief system is completely fractured and broken down into something else so you can build anew? So I read these things and I was like, I felt prickles on my skin because I was like, "Oh my gosh, I've never picked up research before about disabled and neurodivergent children's play that writes about it in a way of affirmation, of recognition, of listening to lived experience." And so Professor Khan's particular paper was looking essentially at the biographies of autistic adults thinking back to the way that they played as children.

And, you know, just reading this article, these, these biographies of how we played, um, it made me really connect with my own autistic play patterns.
