And how do you create the sonograms and what material are they made from?
2:20
So we've got really specialist technology.
2:23
I'll be honest, I am not a technical expert in this area, but we've got a production company called Unit 9, and they are able to convert through that specialist technology, the traditional 2D ultrasound scan picture into a tactile 3D render, I think is the technical term, so a 3D printable model.
2:45
So there were prototypes created before the launch.
2:48
So we shared those with some people with a vision impairment to test and made sure that their feedback influenced and was incorporated into that final design.
2:56
And the feedback from that initial kind of rollout as part of the pre-launch was that individuals felt they really wanted to make sure they could feel the features like, you little tiny toes the arms the legs the you know the outline of the nose because that's the whole point of of the 3d tactile sonogram is whereas you can see your baby if you're sighted on that sonogram image or video it was to be able to create that tactile experience so you could follow the physical contours of your baby and for that to feel meaningful So in the 2D scans, there's often other shapes in the background.
3:35
So what we wanted to do is to remove those shapes so it's a really clear sort of picture and outline of the baby.

What kind of feedback have you got from expectant parents and the loved ones that they've shared it with? So it's
2:36
You know, where does it come from?
2:38
We conducted some research with just over 2000 adults and that really painted a stark picture around a world that's been built without accessibility in mind.
2:47
And one of the key themes that came through that research was pregnancy and the journey of pregnancy.
2:52
So First Hello is a really exciting pilot that will not just represent one of the many different ways that Guide Dog can support individuals, but will also help us to reach people.
3:02
more people and supporting them to make those significant life moments, particularly those key pregnancy milestones, much more exciting and also inclusive.

Have you got any plans for solving that one, Kerry Bevan? Is that your next project?
9:54
So I think there is some work that was done previously and you can use the Be My Eyes app, but I think certainly this is the first step in trying to break down those accessibility barriers and to really make sure that every person has that first-hand experience of a moment that is unforgettable for so many parents and everybody should have equal access to that experience.
