How big a victory do you think this is for the campaign to save the old prison?
70:24
Well, I think victory, I think it's more of a positive step forward to saving it.
70:31
You know, there's going to be a lot more have to happen before we actually physically saved the the site above but um i think you know on the night as you said cross party everybody supported this um 31 councillors agreed with this from Sinn Féin right through to Solidarity, which is brilliant.
70:55
You rarely get that in the Council Chamber, the fact that we want to save our history, our heritage, and we want to save the building where Thomas Kent was executed.
71:08
well over 100 years now.
71:09
And I mean, he was lying in a shallow grave up there for 99 years before he was taken out and put into the family, crept over and cast lines.
71:18
So I believe that it's a positive step forward for everybody.
73:54
Are you confident that the department will actually listen to what the council and what you're saying on the ground, what local people are saying and the council's stance on this?
97:45
Aren't they going to have a meeting up there? Because it wouldn't be a bad idea.
97:49
Well, yeah, I suppose if the Irish Prison Service would allow that.
97:53
But I suppose what it is is a special meeting of council.
97:57
A letter was signed by all parties and independents requesting a special meeting of council next Tuesday.
98:05
It's happening.
98:07
And basically what it is is to start the process of putting it under the building of importance and heritage.
98:18
It's great that it's cross-party.
