And you have a fascinating statistic, don't you, as well, about people who come to faith in Jesus, about how important it is, young, young, the youth.
3:01
Yes, I think, I mean, the Evangelical Alliance would previously have published information that suggests that 71% of people Adults who follow Jesus in the UK made that decision before the age of 20.
3:16
So that includes children as well as teenagers.
3:19
And it includes Christian families as well as non-Christian.
3:22
But I could see that the openness of non-Christian teenagers gave a great opportunity for the gospel.
3:30
So Youth for Christ was brilliant and I loved it because it was so diverse and so energetic and with lots of ideas about being relevant to youth culture but being faithful to the gospel.
3:42
So the mission was to take the good news of Jesus to every young person in relevant ways.

Yes, that's
3:21
right.
3:22
The leader is serving and supporting.
3:24
Yes.
3:24
Yeah, so I...
3:28
As a leader in Royal Mail, I didn't actually ever work for what's now called the Post Office, just so that people aren't confused.
3:36
In days gone by, the Post Office covered a number of different companies, including British Telecom, Royal Mail, Parcel Force and so on.

And then you basically did some A-levels and then you went to college to do engineering, isn't that right?
6:44
Yeah, I did an apprenticeship after A-levels, because in those days, to become an engineer, you needed to have some industrial experience.
6:51
So I did what was called a sandwich course one year after A-levels in a factory in Manchester, making silicon chips.
6:57
So that was my introduction to electronics.
7:00
And then I went to university, but I'd been playing in a band in Wigan.
7:05
And originally I was going to go to Manchester University, but I switched to go to Liverpool because it suited me to be back at home.
7:11
I was playing in nightclubs two or three nights a week and earning, for a young person, what seemed quite a lot of money.
