Sam McGoughHOST
tell me how you got into the business and then tell me a little bit about what you've been doing

Ken WallGUEST
so how i got into the business is i was a marginally decent athlete who every time i got slightly better than that i got hurt And I'll date myself here, but this is back in the late 80s and early 90s.

Ken WallGUEST
So I ended up going to school for exercise and sports science and got a job as a trainer right out of school.

Sam McGoughHOST
So tell us a little bit about your book and, uh, is it, uh, and, you know, and, and, uh, And what is it? What is it? What does it kind of give us a little bit about it with the details?

Ken WallGUEST
So most people find fitness as a career because they were really good as an athlete or, you know, just found it easy.

Ken WallGUEST
Um, I was a maybe moderately okay athlete the minute, but the minute I started to get a little better than okay, I got hurt.

Ken WallGUEST
So both of my knees, my shoulder, uh, I've had, I had a lot of issues when I was a teenager, and I spent a lot of time in PT.

Ken WallGUEST
I was originally an athletic training major at Penn State, uh, and I switched to exercise science, and what I found was I had the ability to relate to people who weren't necessarily an all-star.

So, where do you wanna go from here in this conversation? Because I, I feel lost myself in a lot of aspects with it.

Ken WallGUEST
Yeah, so when I meet with a client, the first thing I want to do is I look at how they move.

Ken WallGUEST
So I think what happens when, especially with guys, we tend to swing for the fences.

Ken WallGUEST
But they neglect, they forget the fact that their knees kill them, that they've got a hip issue and they've got low back issues.

Ken WallGUEST
So rule number one when you try and do something to improve your fitness is you don't get hurt by trying to improve your fitness.

Ken WallGUEST
So, overly simplistic advice would be if it hurts, don't do that because you're only going to set yourself backwards.
