Uh, the commissioners have the duty, uh, to administer and to carry out the, the laws and the regulations as it pertains to the highway department.

Part of that includes, and I think the most import- im- important part of that, of those duties, is to, uh, hire the director.

In this case, uh, you know, I've been part of hiring two directors: Laurie Tudor, who did a great job in her tenure here, and now Jarrod Wiley.

So while constitutionally independent, there, it's, it's a strong relationship between the two, you're saying?
