6:42
What's going on with that?
6:43
Yeah, it comes down to a sticker.
6:45
GM issued a stop sale and recall because certain 2027 Corvettes have an incorrect evaporative emissions family name on their emissions label.
6:53
And Steve, we're told that it was simply a typo, not the wrong family names, the typo.
6:57
Chevrolet confirmed the affected models are the non-hybrid Stingray and Grand Sport.
7:02
So that confirmed what we were thinking was it was LS6 related.
7:05
But the Grand Sport X is not included in that stop sale.

18 MINS LATER

25:30
Give me a little bit more detail on that, Keith.
7:42
What's going on with that?
7:44
Yeah, it comes down to a sticker.
7:45

18 MINS LATER

26:30
Give me a little bit more detail on that, Keith.
4:50
Is the plant still closed right now?
4:52
Yeah, you know, so Bowling Green's three-week production shutdown began on September 28th, with the supplier shortages cited as their reason.
4:59
This will be the last week for the closure, and then the assembly plant is expected to resume building Corvettes on October 19th.
5:05
But before the break, Chevrolet had built 9,122 cars for the 2027 model year, with Stingray and Grand Sport accounting for most of that production.
5:14
Real quick, we'll go through the totals of each model, and of course, that total I list is also that last VIN number produced.
5:20
Stingray, we have 3,691.
5:22
Z06, 1,293.

6 MINS LATER

11:18
What was the fix for that?
4:54
Is the plant still closed right now?
4:56
Yeah, you know, so Bowling Green's three-week production shutdown began on September 28th, with the supplier shortages cited as their reason.
5:03

5:23

5:26
Z06, 1,293.

6 MINS LATER

11:22
What was the fix for that?
5:24
Let's get a Corvette production update from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
5:28
Absolutely.
5:29
So we're watching the production counts from Roger Keel's C8 production tracker.
5:32
And currently we're showing 8,892 Corvettes produced for the 2027 model year.
5:38
Those individual model counts are 3,604 Stingrays, 1,254 Z06s, 3,135 Grand Sports.
5:48
268 Grand Sport Xs, 367 ZR1s, and 264 ZR1 Xs.
5:55
We've been watching the percentages of the two volume models, the Stingray and the new Grand Sport, and currently they're still remaining steady, which we've seen since the beginning of the model year.

10 MINS LATER

15:55
And I'm sure people that are listening or watching the show are saying, what the heck is an Evo kit?
5:05
Let's get a Corvette production update from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
5:09
Absolutely.

10 MINS LATER

15:35
And I'm sure people that are listening or watching the show are saying, what the heck is an Evo kit?
16:46
It was pretty interesting.
16:47
Yeah, this is, I think, my favorite story of the week so far because there's this huge nostalgia right now for manual transmission cars.
16:54
And even other manufacturers like Porsche and Ferrari, they're starting to offer their cars with a, quote, MT package, manual transmission package.
17:02
We also know that the Corvette team has no plans for bringing back the manual transmission in the C8.
17:06
Just ask Tony Romo that question and you'll find out real.
17:09
quick but now the aftermarket they just have the ticket for those owners who do like to do their own shifting the mock shift brings a real gated manual shifter to your c8 corvette and how it works is that it's an electronic shifter that reads the position of the gated shifter and then sends your car the same shift signals as your factory paddle shifters so there's a controller that keeps the shifter in your corvette's current gear and sync and then the transmission just like it does the actual work of shifting gears so every shift behave in a way that's completely normal for your car.
17:40
Basically, you're just substituting the paddle shifts for a gated shifter.

10 MINS LATER

27:47
also buddy let's do a wrap-up of the anniversary celebration at the national corvette museum for everybody
27:21
Also, the Grand Sport pace car was escorted by the military at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C. That was awesome to see.
27:29
It really was.
27:30
This was kind of a surprise.
27:31
So you're watching the pre-race and here's Fox Sports doing this.
27:33
All of a sudden, there's this feature where all branches of the military escorting this Grand Sport convertible to the nation's capital.
27:39
And they dubbed it Operation Freedom 250.
27:42
This is like straight out of a Hollywood production, Steve.
28:52
Let's give everybody a recap of Corvettes at Carlisle just in case they couldn't go this year.
14:37
Keith, how did Corvette racing do at Road America?
14:40
So Tommy Milner and Nikki Kasperg returned to the GTD Pro podium in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship with a third place.
14:50
the number four chevrolet corvette z06 gt3r and it has direct implications on the championship standings as for the number three corvette antonio garcia and alexander sims they had a rough going suffered contact with just two hours left put the z06 gt3r into the turn three gravel trap and damaged to the right rear and unfortunately they would finish 10th in class As far as those championship standings go, Chevrolet leads the class manufacturer's championship by 105 points with three races to go.
15:18
Milner and Kasper remain second in the driver's championship, and they're within 15 points of the first in the standings.
15:25
And that gap is the same in the team points with the top four teams all within 99 points of each other after that race at Road America.
15:31
So with just three races remaining on the the IMSA schedule and the next race is coming up this weekend at Virginia International Raceway August 21st to 23rd so we're right there in the running for the driver's championships we're leading the manufacturer's championships and then the team points that can go either way with four teams all within 100 points of each other I think there's like 1100 points still remaining with these three races to go so anything can happen but I think we're in a really good position right now

12 MINS LATER

27:57
And finally, Keith, we had some big Corvette sales at the Monterey Car Week last weekend, didn't we?
28:02
Yeah, you know, the collector car war was focused on California as part of this annual week where we see highline auctions being attended by all kinds of people out there.
5:13
Let's get a Corvette production update from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
5:17
Absolutely, Steve.
5:18
So, you know, Chevrolet is just cranking out these 2027s, and we are showing a total of 3,338 2027s have been completed as of last week.
5:26
So far, nothing yet on the Grand Sport X, but we're hoping to see those first builds reported actually this week.
5:32
We've been checking Roger Kiel C8 Production Tracker on Facebook nearly every day now just to see if maybe a couple are getting built early.
5:38
But so far, we've seen zero on the Grand Sport X, but it's just coming any moment now, I'm sure of it.
5:44
As for our individual totals by model, we've got that number as well.

21 MINS LATER

26:23
Huh.
17:40
What's going on with that, and what's the backstory?
17:42
Yeah, this is really interesting.
17:43
So within the past couple weeks, we've actually done two stories now on manual style systems that have been announced for sports cars with dual clutch transmissions.
17:51
Ferrari actually just came out with their own system for a new model called the 12 Cilindri Manuale, which is basically a gated manual, but these cars still have clutches, which is the really interesting one.
18:01
But the one we're keeping an eye on is the Rezvani engineering system, which could be available soon for the C8 Corvette.
18:09
The founder of Rezvani demonstrated his new gated manual in a Ferrari, and now they're doing installs in a variety of Ferrari models, but he says they're also working to support the Chevrolet C8 Corvette as well.
18:19
If you watch this, a really cool video, there's a preview there.
19:52
Our other rumor, Keith, Chevrolet is now including maybe an underbody air deflector on Stingrays and Grand Sports for 2027.
4:12
Let's get a Corvette production update from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
4:16
Yeah, so through Friday, June 26, our Roger Kiel report is showing 1,689 Corvettes have been built for the 2027 model year.
4:24
And there's some really interesting breakdowns.
4:25
The Stingray still leads with 719 cars produced, followed by the Z06 at 241, the Grand Sport at 590, ZR1 at 91, and ZR1X at 48.
4:37
And one of the things we're watching is not just the counts, but the percentages, because now we've got five cars being produced now.
4:43
We'll have the sixth one added later this month, the Grand Sport X.
4:46
But it's interesting to see how they're shaping this down.

18 MINS LATER

22:27
Wow.
16:16
Also in the rumors, did we get EPA fuel economy numbers for the LS6 engine?
16:21
Yeah, we are finally seeing the first fuel economy numbers on the EPA's website.
16:24
That's fueleconomy.gov. And the official rating for the 6.7 liter LS6 in the Stingray is 15 MPG city, 25 MPG highway for 18 miles per gallon combined.
16:37
The previous model year Stingray with the 6.2 liter LT2 V8 was 16 city, 25 highway and 19 combined.
16:45
So really just one MPG deduction on city driving, which also brought down the combined number to 18.
16:51
Not too bad considering the LS6 produced a significantly more power of 535 horses as compared to 495 horses on the 2026 skating race with Z51.
17:00
The numbers for the LS6 Grand Sport were not yet showing on the government website, but I did get a note from a reader who said the wind windowstakers, which just started printing late last week, are showing that number.

9 MINS LATER

25:59
Yes.
3:34
Let's get a Corvette production update from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
3:38
Absolutely.
3:38
So Chevrolet ended 2026 model year production on Friday, May 29th, and then the plant was closed last week for that last week of that supplier constraints.
3:47
They had planned three of them, last week, June 1st, being that final week of that.
3:51
So today, we are expecting the first 2027 Corvettes to start running down the assembly line.
3:55
We will get the official production numbers for the 2026 model year from the National Corvette Museum probably sometime in the next few weeks, maybe even a month or so.
4:02
But luckily, we do have the unofficial totals thanks to Roger Kiel's C8 Production Tracker on Facebook.

16 MINS LATER

19:44
What's going on with that? What are the details?
15:49
That was really cool.
15:50
Yeah, this is an annual event held by Tire Rack, and they call it the One Lap of America.
15:55
So it's an eight-day competition.
15:56
The teams have to drive hundreds of miles between multiple states and various racing venues, and then they compete in a number of driving-related events like autocrosses, wet and dry skid pads, speedway ovals, and even time attacks on road courses.
16:10
Each team must be self-sufficient in taking what only they need to compete for the full week of racing, and they have to do it on one set of tires.
16:18
If you remember a couple years ago, GM and Michelin teamed up and they ran an E-Ray in this event.
16:23
This year they're back with a new 2027 Corvette Grand Sport, so that's pretty exciting.
20:39
They were.
6:15
Chevy's live inventory tracker showed over 5,000 Corvettes on the ground at dealer lots as well.
6:20
well.Yeah, of course, as Chevrolet's getting ready to launch the 2027s, again, new LS6 V8 engine for the Stingray, a new Grand Sport model.
6:28
A lot of reasons there for people to upgrade.
6:30
Dealers will be busy trying to sell the remaining 2026s that they have.
6:34
That's why when we go into Chevrolet live inventory tracker, we can set it for a ZIP code in Kansas, and then it gives us the full 2,000-mile radius, which effectively covers the continental United States, and so we get a look at what the nationwide inventory might be.
6:48
We saw 5,160 units available or in transit to dealers.
6:52
That number does include a little over 300 2025s as well.

11 MINS LATER

17:52
Tell me about that.
6:32
[laughs]
6:33
Of course, there's some that make sense.
6:35
You know, whenever they start up new colors, those always ramp up.
6:38
They did make the signature Admiral Blue exteriors available, although extremely low quantities.
6:42
There was just 66 available nationwide.
6:44
But the good news is they reserved those specifically for Grand Sport orders as they are doing their, you know, normal ramp-up routine here.
6:52
The other new exterior, Pitch Gray Metallic, was listed as zero across the board, so perhaps in the next order cycle, too, we'll start to see that new gray interior finally make an appearance there.

18 MINS LATER

24:32
Agreed.
