As we're approaching that end zone, what are some things you think that people need to avoid in the next five years leading up to retirement?

Yeah.

Well, one is maybe a little bit obvious.

I would be careful with debt because you're going to be turning off that spigot.

You're turning off the faucet of your paychecks.

It's not saying don't do it.

A lot of people buy cars because they get a good interest rate, things like that.

When should you start to feel comfortable?

What is it and why might it be a significant demographic event? Well, yeah, and I guess I'm a

perfect guy to talk about this because I'm in that group.

We're talking about the baby boom.

Baby boom are the individuals generally who were born between 1946 and 1964.

Certainly made sense as soldiers came back from the war and started families.

There's just a great number of births during that time.

Why it's a significant event is that baby boomers control a lot.

Where are things at? What

And so there's a tremendous amount of, uh, overwatch and guardian angel aspects that come into doing the close air support mission.

I had several opportunities to do that.

Um, there was one in Afghanistan that I distinctly remember as well, and that was we were tasked to go support a special operations task force way up in the northeast corner of Afghanistan.

And as soon as we checked in with command and control, they said, "Hey, get ready for your nine line and start cooking up to the northeast." Thankfully, that night we had a dedicated tanker, so he went with us as well.

Plug the data in, pull up your radar, look at your navigation systems, got the NVGs on, and sure enough, you look out and all you see is just lightning.

And it was right over where a thunderstorm had decided to park itself, and any sane-minded person would go, "Nope, not tonight." Well, we weren't sane, and my wingman and I, uh, decided to go give it a shot.

Tell us about that mission and, and delivering close air support there.
