While residents in Coos and Curry Counties haven't adopted electric vehicles at the same rate as in Oregon's metro areas, the co-op is planning ahead.

Well, we haven't seen the growth as the rest of the state because we are in the rural coast of Oregon.

However, planning for EV adoption starts with understanding how our electric system is changing.

A quick statistic, as of February 2026, there were 498 registered electric vehicles in our service territory, including 291 battery electric vehicles and 207 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

Historically, it was much more difficult to measure demand across the distribution system and receive timely information from those devices.

That has changed, uh, with the deployment of our advanced metering infrastructure system in 2025 and the completion of our private communications to all of our substations in 2026.

Those investments, uh, have provided Coos Curry Electric with better, better visibility into our system.
