some bad horses there's bad
9:00
horses there's some bad horses there there are there's some bad horses that you know there's what we call lemons just like there's sometimes you buy a car and it's a lemon there's not a single part on that thing that works and you just have to give up and totally turn it in or trade it in and sometimes animals have a mutation like that, and they're, they're really different, you know, and now, now we don't come across, across that severity very often, but it does happen, and when you do what I do for a living, and, and I start, because my program is so thorough, I start about 25 cults a year, I mean, I'm not out here doing 200 cults, I'm not, not out here turning them around in two weeks i mean i spend a lot of time with these horses but even even at that you know over a few years you're going to have a couple hundred colts under your belt and that will teach you a lot and it'll and and it and at some point over 200 colts you're going to have some that fall into that rarity that that will really show you this is why we need this this is why we need this education and this foundation.
10:12
And so for me, that's where the importance came in because I wanted to try to ensure that I could be, that I could continue to ride and have a better chance of not getting hurt.
10:40
There's no guarantee.
10:41
There's no guarantee in all of this, but it didn't make sense just to say, oh, well, heck, I'll just keep doing it the same way and maybe something won't happen.
10:53
The best I can do is try to benefit myself and benefit the horses around me.
10:58
What's really interesting to me is that I have a lot of people that are on board, especially amateurs.

But, and I think the thing that was so triggering for everyone, it was that the thing that I was reading the most was like pinning Western and English against each other, which again, that was,
19:04
And so if people are having issues like that, they'll go to their doctor and do you get referrals from doctors or people that are... that maybe are on the cusp of having to get surgery? Is it more people pre-op or post-op?
19:26
So I would say most of the time it's everybody who's had an event that comes in.
19:31
So there's nothing preventative that we can offer at this time.
19:35
And I don't think there's anything out there that's preventative.
19:37
And generally people don't know that they're going to have an event until they have that event.
19:42
So we get referrals.
19:46
So we get anybody who goes down for a surgery down in Vancouver or Kelowna, they get automatically flagged in the system and we get the notification and we reach out to everybody who's done that.

Too often there's negativity in the world and everything, but you must find some joy and some successes that you see in the program.

on them.

Whereas over here, these horses have been handled and very step-by-step, methodically taught in baby steps how to do small things, how to pick up their feet, how to take the halter on and off.
4:17
Things like that.
4:17
You know, we're just going to go out there and slap that halter on.
4:21
Drag him in here.
4:22
You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
4:24
No mind that he doesn't lead.
