Save The Sound
K
4:30Kathy ZepielGUEST
yeah happy to so save the sound is an organization environmental organization we're about a little over 50 years old um we have an office in new haven and an office in larchmont new york because we are working in the long island sound watershed so that includes the north shore of long island parts of westchester county queens and then uh almost all of connecticut about I'm going to throw out the term, the number 98%, about 98% maybe of people in Connecticut live in the Long Island Sound watershed, except for a teeny little piece in the west part of the state and a teeny little piece on the east part of the state.

And on the watershed, there's a little chunk of it in Rhode Island and an even smaller piece in upstate New York.

And then it goes up through Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, all the way across the border into southern Quebec.

so um because of the connecticut river valley right so um so we do our work uh primarily right now in new york and connect the new york and connecticut parts of the watershed um and uh we um were originally founded uh three separate organizations that came together so There was a group called Connecticut Fund for the Environment, which was a group of attorneys.

And what do you think, thinking about the future, you know, what, what gives you hope? So we kind of talked about what are the problem, you know, what are you looking towards at the problems of the future, but what, what gives you hope for the future that, you know, in 30 years, somebody will say, well, the sound is much better now than it was 30 years ago, which would be today.
