Because there was nothing creepier than working, especially a late night shift and being alone.

Like when I was in tech department, for example, I was often the only one in there and it was often kind of tucked into a corner.

Again, I don't know if like maybe working behind the counter dehumanizes us enough that they think that this is a totally appropriate
