go on.
32:09
I was going to say, even as an example, because I use such an extreme, but if we use that first sort of example, so we've got this mum now who's 45.
32:19
She's, you know, five foot something, like a pretty average height, and she's 75 kilos, right? 75 kilos, but she was 55 kilos on her wedding day.
32:33
So that 20 kilos makes her feel very uncomfortable.
32:38
But only because she's hit 45 has she gone to the doctor to have her blood tests and whatever else, her checkup, and he said, you have high blood pressure.
32:49
When does someone like, where is that wake up call? It's only as you're not, it's very hard for someone to say to a woman at 45, who's a normal weight because normal is 67% of the population, right? How do we help people from a health point of view, not weight, health? And this is where I want to flip it into body composition.
33:15
How do we have that conversation about being stronger, building muscle and being healthier? without upsetting people, because this is not a failure on their behalf because their body fat percent has gone up.
36:52
And then you give me the information, the direction and the tools, and then I walk away and I don't do what you've said.
1:41
Okay.
1:41
Rest your system with no food for 12 hours a day.
1:44
Now, some people, if they've got a metabolic health condition, so it could be type 2 diabetes or maybe, um, overweight or obesity and they're trying to lose weight, if they want to improve metabolism, sometimes they'll fast for longer.
1:57
Right.
1:57
So they might fast for 16 hours and only eat over an eight-hour period.
2:02
So in terms of when is breakfast, well, that depends on when people are eating.
2:07
But, uh, having high-protein breakfast is the key thing to actually get your brain functioning, your muscles functioning and, you know, get your body into gear.
5:02
I mean, I could say your own story was one of the most complex patient's But is there, without naming names, a patient that comes to mind that set you on the path that became BeFit Food?
5:16
Really? The biggest instigator was working at a bariatric surgery clinic and not one particular patient but 100% of the patients that had got into the situation where...
5:33
they didn't think their weight was reversible by any other means other than the surgery.
5:39
And yes, for some people, metabolically, things can go down that path so far that no matter what they do without other interventions, It's a really hard, long path and some people would say you can't do it.
5:54
And then there are definitely outliers where people have done it without surgery and medication.
6:00
But for me, I just knew we were setting them up for failure by not teaching them how to eat and starting their whole weight loss journey with synthetic bars and shakes to get them to lose weight before the surgery, which shrunk the liver that permitted the surgeon to actually operate at a lower risk and So I wanted to create a whole food version that would shrink the liver and allow the surgery to go ahead, but also teach the person in that two to six weeks before surgery how to eat.
6:30
So once they'd had the surgery, that was embedded for the rest of their life rather than this taste for chocolate shakes and synthetic bars, which after around two years we would find when people started regaining weight they thought the way to lose weight was meal replacement shakes.
9:11
But I wouldn't if I thought I'm just relying on the drug to do the work for me.
