As you reflect on how you got to where you were, what key experiences or turning points would you say have led you to the work you're doing today? Oh my goodness gracious.

Well, initially I actually came into medicine as a researcher in neuropharmacology.

I was a biochemist and I quickly realized that if I wanted to do anything meaningful, I needed to work with humans and not rats.

So I decided better go to medical school so I can work with humans.

And I got into medical school with the anticipation that I would become a brain researcher.

But as I got in there, I really found my sense of the holistic didn't fit anywhere in the medical school experience.
