I'm excited to talk today about the new fifth universal definition of myocardial infarction because this is one of those updates where you read it and think, This makes a lot of clinical sense.

New definitions for MI were released at the end of August.

The biggest changes are that the familiar type 1 through type 5 MI terminology has been replaced with three broader categories, primary MI, secondary MI, and procedure-related MI.
