So tell us about what you're doing right now in Nebraska, what it looks like politically speaking, electorally.
3:01
Yeah, well, ordinarily in Nebraska wouldn't be a state that anybody was talking about.
3:05
But in April, we started to see some things going on in Nebraska that made it seem that maybe Dan Osborne, the independent candidate who's running against the incumbent Senator Pete Ricketts, who's the son of the billionaire founder of TD Ameritrade and the owner of the Chicago Cubs, who's in the Senate, who hasn't been elected actually, was appointed after his governorship ended, who might have a chance to win.
3:29
This is Dan Osborne ran against Deb Fischer, ran about five or six points behind in 2024 in a year that Trump, of course, swept the state by much more than that.
3:39
And so we came out here in April and I wrote a profile on him and we did a long video package.
3:43
And the profile that I wrote, I think a lot of people talk about these people as political candidates.
3:48
But one of the things that struck me when I got here and I met Dan was that he is a true working person running for office.

21:09
So what's your response to that?
32:18
That's what's really important.
32:19
Susan, what you're talking about there is that because a lot of these politicians have sort of jumped into bed with the devil, so to speak, in a number of ways.
32:28
Number one, They don't have the organic political talent or charisma to get through an election as a retail politician talking to working people on the ground without the corporate money.
32:42
So they got into bed with the corporate donors and these large corporations that make decisions that are directly detrimental to their and they have to go and defend those decisions in order to keep the money that keeps them in office, which is what I think for a lot of these people confers value on their personal existence because there's not much else in the periphery.
33:01
So they're like, I am the office holder rather than I use this office to do these things.
33:06
That's one.
33:06
Number two, since Trump rolled around, a lot of these Republican politicians not only are in bed with the corporate donors, but they have to defend everything trump does and he's so uh reckless and um chaotic and out of control that he makes decisions that are in direct contradiction with things that he's campaigned on one of those would be the epstein files the other would be the war and ashley hinson people like ashley hinson go home and they have to not only defend their sources of funding which are the corporations that are profiting off of these bad decisions but they have to defend trump who made the bad decisions and they have to toe the line because voters on the ground aren't receiving all of their information from corporate media anymore who would lie to them and tell them that these things are good or worth their time then Once they go on the ground and they have to defend themselves, they have to try to find a way out of the corner that they're backed into, which is constituents on one side saying these things are bad and hurting their lives, and then Trump and the corporate donors on the other side saying, you're not allowed to say anything but what we say, you need to obey.
38:12
So, Julian, what what would have been the issues that have really driven that race and how similar is it to what we're seeing in Iowa and in Kansas?
15:47
And then he just starts, like, calling you a moron.
15:49
Yeah, he said...
15:51
He said something along the lines of like, well, do you support the Iranian regime killing their protesters in the streets? And I said, no.
15:58
Do you support bombing desalination plants? Like it's they're expecting you to just take the opposite side of whatever they take, because they they're they're showing their hand there.
16:09
Nathan, you know, they're showing us that they view politics differently.
16:12
as an intellectual exercise.
16:14
They see it as this form of high school debate for this lofty class of academics, intellectuals, businessmen to go and step into as like a fun playground.

19 MINS LATER

35:15
um that you know you are ultimately just a guy with a camera and a microphone who shows up in the capital and you didn't necessarily need to have gone to fancy journalism school to do that you mentioned other people do this well like you you talk about code pink who we recently uh interviewed medea and jody about about code pink um and you know the holes are open people are gonna people You can do what you do.
6:57
... immediately back to Israel, where-
6:59
And the Americans who were involved in it did get prosecuted.
7:02
[laughs] So Israelis are above the law in this country, and in their own country, right? Like, Israelis who have killed people in the West Bank, you just, you know, spoke about this.
7:11
You know, Israelis who have killed people in the West Bank, including Americans, are not prosecuted.
7:17
I mean, it, it is, it...
7:18
They are completely above the law, international law, uh, American law, and Israeli law.
7:23
Uh, and I mean, the, the detail about the Israeli spy staying in his apartment and the detail about them maintaining an, an, an, an, you know, a security, uh, uh, system in his apartment are sort of the most overt, uh, signs of corruption there.

41 MINS LATER

49:08
Iconic nosy neighbor.
31:10
I think we're – go ahead, Julian.
31:12
I was just going to say my favorite example of the way that the Trump administration or the developments in society and all of our institutions throughout the Trump administration has made it so painfully obvious and people are becoming so disillusioned that there's no going back is actually in the media.
31:31
Since the 24-hour news cycle started, corporate media has been working towards and going into this state of being like an arm of corporate America.
31:43
And it hasn't really been recognized.
31:45
During the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war, you had all of the corporate media outlets, whether they were considered liberal or conservative, peddling the administration's nonsense about weapons of mass destruction and trying to push the US into war because their advertisers and their conglomerates would have profited off of that war.
32:04
um and that's just been the way that corporate media has been their advertisers and their conglomerates tend to drive the narrative because if the editorial choices don't line up with the interests of the advertisers the advertisers will pull their funding and there won't be anything to fill up the space when the news program isn't on um larry ellison uh is the single largest donor in history to friends of the idf he was also one of the biggest donors to donald trump And he also is now, through all of these paramount mergers, the Ellison family is controlling not only CBS News, at which they installed Barry Weiss as their editor-in-chief, and she's run it into the ground by essentially just peddling Israeli propaganda 24-7.
32:47
But now there's reporting that they're going to put her into the same highest level editorial position at CNN.

8 MINS LATER

40:30
Julian, we were talking about this offline, but here's a good pivot into this legislation that, or I guess it's legislation they're trying to push forward that somehow co-mingles our military with the IDF.
28:36
So who's in charge in the United States? Who wants to go first, Julian or, or Dave? Julian?
28:43
I, I think...
28:43
Yeah, I'd be happy.
28:44
I mean, I think that the person who, or, or I guess the entity that's in charge of the United States might not be in the United States.
28:50
They just might have proxies in the United States.
28:52
I think it's not, it's actually maybe not the greatest sign if Trump's cut out of the, uh, decision-making process because however erratic he is, all of the people who would be making decisions below him, um, have, uh, uh, you know, there's an indication that they've been captured by Israeli interests.
29:07
And so you've got Steve Witkoff, you've got Jared Kushner, who both of whom, uh, the Iranians, [laughs] you know, even publicly said at the beginning of the war they understood them to be agents of the Israeli government, uh, during negotiations, and whatever you'll take from that, you know, you'll take from it.

18 MINS LATER

47:19
Wow.
