[gentle music] I remember very vividly, it's the day before spring break starts, and I'm thinking to myself that I had made a huge mistake because I'm listening to all my friends describe where they're going on vacation for the week, to Hawaii, Cancun, Puerto Rico, and I was like, "Oh my goodness.

I signed up to go spend a week serving the poor," which I was excited to do.

But in comparing my spring break to those...

the trips of my friends, I had started to think that I had made a mistake.

I was thinking to myself, "What did I get myself into?" I, at this point, at Harvard, I was regularly volunteering at the homeless shelter, so serving the poor wasn't something that I was unfamiliar with, just was going to be stepping into it in a new way, certainly by doing it for 10 days straight.

And I was also leading a Bible study at this point during my junior year of college, so this is March of 2023, but I wasn't convicted yet about spiritual poverty.
