Well, what is the academy's process then for taking raw complex data and transforming it into actionable, accessible insights for regulators, lawmakers, and the public?

So after, you know, the research committee has approved a research project and the data is available and ready to use, the research team works with volunteers to ask what it is they want to learn from the data.
5:04
What is the question they want to ask? We can help develop that question.
5:08
What's the gap in our knowledge that we think we can fill using this data? And what statistical or analytical techniques do you want to use to answer that question? And every project will be different, but there's usually always a novel question to answer, whether it's a question that's never been asked before or it's an old question that we want to answer in a new way with new data.

Focusing on the research question itself throughout the process of doing the research helps keep the subsequent findings report in whatever form it takes, you know, is it an issue brief or a policy paper or a podcast or a blog, it helps those results be clear and concise, and having a clear research question and intent and concise findings helps make the distribution of those analyses easier to distribute and for stakeholders to understand.
