And that's when things get pretty harrowing for Han at this stage, right? Yeah.

So initially, she had gone to Hong Kong to research the Soong sisters, the three women who had married three of the most powerful men in China.

It was well known in the U.S. that they would be a real debt if anyone could write a book about them and get them to talk.

But they refused interviews for the most part.

And Miggy really understood that, like, this would be the subject for her.

She came from a family with sisters.

So would you read a little bit from China to me? Because we heard an excerpt from the time in the Congo, but I'd love to hear some from China to me also.

And did these three women have a relationship among themselves or did you create it for the purpose of the book?

Yeah, so a number of them did have a relationship.

The book is about Rebecca West, who was a British novelist, critic, and reporter.

She started out as a socialist suffragette in her youth, and she's most famous for her hybrid work on Yugoslavia, Black Lamb and Gray Falcon, and also her reporting on post-World War II trials like Nuremberg and then trials of British traders, which were all published in The New Yorker.

She really revolutionized trial reporting.

and what Americans came to understand that that could do.

The second woman is Emily Mickey Hahn, who is a real contrarian from St. Louis.
