How did we get to the point that Austin FC did make a public statement addressing this issue? Because several weeks ago, wasn't a woman removed from the stadium for wearing like an abolished ice T-shirt?
20:13
That is correct.
20:14
Yes.
20:14
Daniela Silva, a former candidate for Austin City Council, posted a video online saying that she was removed for wearing a shirt that said abolish ice in bold print right on the front.
20:26
Yes.
20:28
According to the story that she told, she was offered to change shirts.
20:32
She was offered a free T-shirt by stadium staff.
23:52
What about you, Juan?
20:19
So looking ahead a little bit, what are you watching for as we begin to make the transition to next season?
20:26
Well, one of the biggest stories of the summer are a couple of youngsters that have been signed up from Austin FC2.
20:32
They're being given first team opportunities to earn a spot on next year's roster.
20:37
Those two are Ervin Torres and Jorge Alastue.
20:40
And yeah, pretty much everybody is auditioning for either their spot on the roster next year with Austin or auditioning for another team.
20:49
And then maybe Austin can get a little bit of value from them should they decide to move on.
20:53
But the playoffs are within reach, which is not something I expected to be saying right after the World Cup.
21:40
Okay, tell us a little bit about him.
16:25
Who is Gianni Infantino? Tell us a little bit about this proposal.
16:28
Yeah.
16:29
So Gianni Infantino is the head of FIFA.
16:31
FIFA is the global organization that sets up and runs the World Cup, as well as other large international tournaments such as the Club World Cup, the Women's World Cup.
16:41
And he had this idea to try to monetize the commercial aspects of the World Cup.
16:47
He put forth this plan to essentially create a separate private company that would take in private investors.
16:54
And the idea is that when they put up the World Cup, they take over the commercial rights and everyone makes a lot of money.
19:49
Remind us what that is and how are they set up for that tournament? Yeah, it's the Leagues Cup.
23:33
We all kind of know, but remind us why.
23:35
Yeah, it's his sixth World Cup.
23:37
He is now the leading goal scorer all time at the World Cup, and he's doing this having just turned 39, which is not a spring chicken, if you will, in soccer player terms, at least.
23:52
There are a ton of players that have been really showing out, but to me, he's still at the top, and he's proving it every single game.
24:07
Has your mind changed about that at all?
24:09
My conviction on it has shifted maybe.
24:12
Oh, okay.
24:13
Do tell.
18:53
Which teams are going to be playing just a few hours away from us here in Austin?
18:56
Well, folks here in Texas have a treat coming for them because you get a good mix.
19:01
You have some perennial heavy hitters, those sort of title hopefuls every year, including Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands, England, Argentina, defending champs.
19:12
You also have this upstart Japan team that I think could cause some folks some trouble.
19:17
They're looking to be pretty good.
19:19
And also some tournament debutants.
19:21
You've got Uzbekistan, Curaçao are all going to be featured in games here in Texas.
21:09
How are the games adapting to the climate that they're going to be played in?
