Gabrielle Hodson spoke to market watcher and Queensland beef producer Josie Angus.
16:53
Europe actually struck a deal right back in the 80s when they... you know, when they were called out for being unfairly protectionist.
17:02
And it was called the Andreessen Agreement.
17:04
And they said, actually, well, we'll give you very little access to Europe, but in return, we'll stay out of your markets, you know, Asia and places like that with our beef.
17:16
And of course, Europe never, never did honour the agreement.
17:20
And just like they didn't honour the agreement that was made when, you know, we conceded Australia's rightful access to the US.

Why didn't we rip it up at the time or do something about it?
17:31
I think everyone always puts Europe in the too hard basket.
17:45
[laughs]
17:45
[laughs] Yeah.
17:47
Absolutely.
17:47
I, I mean, people couldn't believe that we actually stuck at it.
17:50
It was, uh, just the, the silliest, um, you know, um...
17:58
I, I don't know.
17:58
It just, it's, it's endless, the, the number of things that they throw at you.
22:55
What, what is your advice to someone out there on how to get through?
