Hmm.

So you can thank those two men in particular for getting President Trump to come out.

And the, the benefit there, I think the biggest benefit is this sometimes is seen as a left versus right issue.

Um, you know, saving birds, uh, the environment tends to be a, a more liberal, um, Democratic issue.

President Trump hopefully kind of smashed that and said, "This is not a left or right issue.

This is an economic issue.

This is a health issue.

Is that water rights?

And that was the, I'm gonna guess, the U.S. Magnesium deal?

Yeah.

That was Joel Ferry at the Department of Natural Resources had this crazy idea that, you know, that the water rights that U.S. Magnesium had were not, um, properly secured in bankruptcy and would be put up for auction, and that the state would be able to come in and purchase those.

Uh, the problem is he didn't have state approval, and didn't really want to go through the proper channels, 'cause he didn't really want U.S. Magnesium to know what he was doing, um, that it, you know, might, the cat would get outta the bag, and they would be prepared with a higher bid.

So he wanted to keep it really quiet, and he just, he called me up and said, "Hey, could you, if, if I come up with this crazy idea, could you help fund the U.S. Magnesium purchase?" And they were looking at 80,000 acre feet of water.

Turns out they had more water than we thought.

It's more like 140,000 acre feet of water that they have rights for.

Okay.

And so it feels like maybe, you know, I guess what's hard for me to see from my seat is like, are they feeling that uncertainty or not?

Yeah, I think it's a mixed bag.

I think there's certain portions of the economy where people are very nervous.

If you're living paycheck to paycheck and you're seeing costs go up pretty dramatically and you've seen, I think there are a lot of people that saw inflation hit and pretty high numbers and they're waiting for their prices to come back down.

And unfortunately, that's not really how inflation works.

It just keeps going up.

And so I think there's a lot of people like that who are still living paycheck to paycheck, who are feeling a lot of uncertainty and really nervous.
