And then how, how did we move through the field to get where we are today with, uh, using pigs instead of primates?

Josh MezrichGUEST
I mean, it's a fascinating story, and I, I break the book into, like, three sections.

Josh MezrichGUEST
The first section is the primate era, and then the second section is the early pig era, and then we're in the third section, which I think is the m- I hope the [chuckles] modern era.

Josh MezrichGUEST
But so as early-- Like, once, uh, in the, in the c- in the '60s, uh, you know, the first transplant in 1954, uh, by Joe Murray between the two identical twins, and that was like a proof of principle.

Josh MezrichGUEST
But then from '54 until around '62, Joe Murray, uh, primarily Joe, and then, you know, Roy Calne, who worked in Joe's lab, uh, were ultimately able to successfully do non-identical siblings, um, in '58, and then, um, ultimately a deceased donor around '61, '62.

... i-in the world of xeno, and a lot of this work is possible only because, uh, of all of the science that, that, uh, uh, that he did.
