It's an amazing document of one of the high points of 20th century class struggle in Britain, so make sure you stick around for the whole thing.
30:45
The next record is actually one of the records that inspired doing the entire project.
30:52
It's called Four Workers on Strike.
30:56
And it's a record that came out of the 1978 Wildcat strike of four workers.
31:03
um outside of the edge of london and it's interesting because um a number of there there was a sort of internal autonomous workers organizing group called ford workers combine that um called the strike outside of uh the union structure 15,000 workers walked out in Wildcat and within a week, I think 57,000 workers went on strike and it was so popular that the union had to sort of backtrack and support it.
31:36
People that were involved in this, not only this record, but the larger combine were part of a group called Big Flame, which was uh sort of the uk equivalent of the italian autonomous movement they were the ones who were translating a lot of italian um militant uh workers theory and um this record is sonically quite interesting because it mixes sort of pop music folk music and field recordings um so it's sort of like this whole similar kind of drop you into the site of struggle uh it also is a great example of a record that when you unpack it it shows you these kind of networks of solidarity because the record was made with the support of community radio which was being funded by the Greater London Council, which was sort of like this leftist wing, the last kind of vestige of the left in the government before Thatcher took over and then sort of dismantled the GLC.
32:43
And so this is sort of like a lot of different... elements that come together that are necessary to produce this record.

How do you use your managers?
64:20
Well, I just, like I said, I'll sit with them and just, I like to get word track.
64:25
Like I said, I find with what we do, there's something you can learn every day.
64:30
Like the other day, our manager was talking at work and he said something.
64:32
I was like, huh, like I'm going to use that.
64:35
Like, I don't remember exactly right now what it was, but it's just...
64:38
Use your managers to your advantage and talk to them, get their experience.

For managers, what advice do you have for managers who want to hire people like you or develop people like you, 40-car people? What does a manager need to do to get more Josh MacPhee's working for them?
