Why does our school elevate humility as a core virtue rather than assuming that it'll just develop on its own?

First of all, fundamentally, we understand human nature, that we are not naturally given to be virtuous, sadly, unfortunately.

And I would say anyone that has lived a decent period of time in this earth and is self-aware, the evidence that we are naturally virtuous is abundant.

We elevate this as a core virtue because humility is fundamental for human flourishing and for growing in wisdom.

And really, I might make the case for all the other virtues.

For example, I think it was Augustine who said that you cannot love unless you are humble.

You cannot love from a place of pride, right? You have to have humility in order to truly love someone else.

And so in light of this, what are the early signs humility is actually taking root and what might be some evidence for parents and teachers to patiently expect to see in their children or in their students? Yeah.
