Well, we looked at the roles and the responsibilities that were needed to be performed.

What is happening all the time is that MOD and other defence organisations procure kit And they procure it against a requirement.

That requirement was probably written in isolation some time ago and things have changed.

So instead, we decided to regain the system.

And it hasn't helped us because we don't fit in to the normal jigsaw.

Our piece that we have behind me is a very peculiar shape and they don't know where to fit it because we went after what is the requirement to satisfy a role and a responsibility and what is it we can't do at the moment? Well, I asked the question to myself, would I, as a commander, send an F-35 to attack a petrols, oils and lubricants dump 80 miles behind the lines? And the answer was, I wouldn't risk it.
