Jack McArdleCORRESPONDENT
If we look at the 128 six and seven year old class, what were we looking for here?

Johnny O'ConnellGUEST
Okay, well, what we're looking for fundamentally, Jack, is ponies that we think would progress on to jumping the grade A classes in the future, maybe next year, maybe a bit further on down the road.

Johnny O'ConnellGUEST
both myself and my co-judge Michael would be looking for would be, I think the first thing you're looking for is scope.

Johnny O'ConnellGUEST
Okay, so you've got to have a pony that has a scope to jump big fences, has a good length of stride, et cetera, things like that.

Johnny O'ConnellGUEST
I think they have to have a degree of blood, good reactions, good reflexes, a good technique.

Johnny O'ConnellGUEST
And then there's that little X factor that, you know, certain ponies have And I think probably the best way to describe that is when a pony comes into the ring, that it grows, that it shows off a little bit, you know, and that always kind of, you know, I know from riding myself, some horses or ponies, you come into the ring and they shrink and they, you know, they're a little bit nervy, but a nice, confident pony kind of loves to enter the ring and that's very helpful.

Jack McArdleCORRESPONDENT
As a top trainer, what advice would you give to the riders in preparation for the judged classes?
