How do you feel about that statement that she made? And how do we communicate to our community that we're an outlet for that, that we can help you with that? If you're looking for a way to make the world a better place, we're
41:08
an outlet.
41:08
Well, when she said that, it was such a beautiful statement, and it reminded me of the book of Romans in the Bible in chapter 6, or I think chapter 6, but Paul's talking about the body of Christ.
41:19
And there's different members of this body.
41:22
There's the hands, there's the feet, there's the hands.
41:24
heart, there's the mind.
41:26
And Paul starts to list the giftings within this, within the body of Christ.
42:17
Hey, we'd like to do something, but what can we do? What would be that what that we can share with them?
39:04
And although you're going to make an impact in our lives and the people we serve, I promise you we're going to make an impact in yours as well.
39:12
Oh, very much so.
39:13
And then that volunteering opportunities is huge for us.
39:17
And especially with Thanksgiving coming up, we're going to be serving hundreds of Thanksgiving meals, not only to our guests, but we open it up to the folks on Skid Row.
39:26
And there's a lot of volunteer opportunities for that season.
39:30
You mentioned Christmas, the Christmas store.
39:32
We'll be doing the Christmas store for our guests.
41:35
And when our donors are giving to Union Rescue Mission and volunteering at Union Rescue Mission and donating to Union Rescue Mission, they become a part of those stories.
43:27
John, how are we doing with the event? Is it shaping up?
43:30
Oh, Mark is shaping up, and we're one day away.
43:33
It's tomorrow.
43:34
So we have a few slots available if someone wants to join us at the last minute, which would be great to have you.
43:41
We're a little short on our fundraising goal, but you can go to urm.org and just click on Over the Edge, and it will lead you to a page where you can make a donation.
43:51
You can support any one of the teams that are going to participate online.
43:55
We have some wonderful teams out there.
36:08
And what an amazing conversation we just heard with Mark Hood and Richard Pink, who's got a heart of gold as family starting Pink's Hot Dogs back in the 1930s and now supporting Union Rescue Mission with the Union Rescue Mission Hot Dog coming up just in time for our next big Union Rescue Mission event, which is the Over the Edge event coming up on September 25th and John Yasuda, boy, what a great conversation here, and God bless Richard Pink and his family.
36:35
It was such an inspiring story, and what an inspiring family.
36:38
They started with such humble beginnings.
36:40
As he said, they're just a stand on the street, right? And to be who they are today and to have the international presence that they have now, to be in the Philippines, to be in South Korea, to be in Japan, what an incredible story.
36:52
But with all that success, to dedicate a hot dog to Union Rescue Mission, In conjunction with our over-the-edge event, it's just unbelievable.
37:01
As he described it, I was getting so hungry.
37:05
He talked about this nine-inch stretch hot dog with mustard, onions, chili, guacamole for $8.88 because that represents renewal and rebuild.

6 MINS LATER

43:16
So tell us about that and the importance of this event from a fundraising standpoint.
38:40
so what do we need we need people to come out of the woodwork what's the need to get to the get to the finish line because our goal is 2.1 million what do we need for people to help us to cross that finish line so we're able to help more people
38:52
right now we're still short about a half million dollars mark and so there is a great need because every dollar we're short means there's someone we can't help and on the last program we talked a lot about the children and we've got over 300 children in our facilities right now and You know, we need everyone's help because we want to put all of our guests through these life transformation programs.
39:14
So after they get through our programs, they can be positive contributors to society.
39:19
They have stable jobs, they have stable housing, they're independent, they're thriving.
39:24
And it can only happen through our listeners that make these contributions online and through our events.
43:37
And John, can you tell them one more time, how can they participate, not just financially, but how do they register for the event? How can they form a team? How do we get more people to over the edge?
43:47
Well, we're down to our last couple of weeks, Mark.
43:48
And so just go on to our website at URM.org. And right on the front banner, you'll see Over the Edge.
