Which is a really interesting challenge, isn't it? So bringing it into then the more severe occupational injury and trauma-informed organisations, can you tell us a little bit about the research that you've done so far and also other research that perhaps has been undertaken as well?

John TullochGUEST
Yeah, so we've done some research where we've tried to basically gauge get a baseline understanding of how many injuries occur whilst people are at work and what those main causes are.

John TullochGUEST
And over 90% of vets and vet nurses of whatever discipline they're in get injured at some point during their career.

John TullochGUEST
So injury rates are really quite high and the nature of them as well, they're primarily animal related.

John TullochGUEST
So a severe occupational injury is an injury where someone's admitted into a hospital and then spend more than one night in hospital.

Well, hopefully some of our listeners will be inspired to sign up and participate thinking about what comes next once you've got all of this you've done all the analysis what impact do you think could be had by this research how how might it influence change within veterinary culture within the uk or anywhere else

And, and Jon, what have other industries-- some industries have mandated it, haven't they? Have you got an opinion on how we, we can best do this and how we can best save people before the accidents have happened, as it were?

John TullochGUEST
Like if you, if you look at any sort of major changes and, um- Uh, you know, health and safety within the workplace, it has been to do with leaders sort of helping drive that through and, uh, having open conversations as well, like discussing injuries like this of what happened to people and the consequences of it.

John TullochGUEST
I think, you know, if anyone's out there, like I'm sure that they know someone that has received a head injury whilst being, being in practice, and I think thinking on it and discussing it more, being more open, and also being open with, with the clients as well.

John TullochGUEST
Um, and it will just, there will become a point where it just becomes normalized of that having that consistent message of having leaders within practices and across the profession wearing hard hats, being positive about it.

John TullochGUEST
Also, just doing, um, more sort of low-key things, just ensuring that on like practice social media, people have got a hard hat on when they're, when they're with a horse or doing procedure for social media posts or on the practice website.

You know, do you think this is kind of part of a bigger movement, basically?
