As Reagan mentioned, we are still in our sermon series on Philippians, and that was a great gospel passage, but in many ways I'm glad I don't have to preach on it.
0:07
[laughing] But speaking about Philippians, how many of you have seen, uh, the new Christopher Nolan, Matt Damon movie, The Odyssey? Quite a few hands.
0:20
It's, it's, it's great if you can watch it, I would strongly suggest it.
0:24
And now, how many of you have read The Odyssey? Okay.
0:29
Well, yeah.
0:29
Um, I've been reading the Odyssey and, uh, for the past few weeks now.

Did you catch what Jesus said? Did you hear what Jesus just said in today's passage from Matthew's gospel when he said, what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? How would you answer that question? Now, it is a rhetorical question.
0:24
Jesus is actually saying, not asking, that it will not profit a man to gain the whole world and instead forfeit his soul.
0:31
But let's just imagine for a minute that it isn't a rhetorical question.
0:36
How would you answer it? I'll tell you how I would answer it.
0:42
Intellectually, I would answer by saying, of course, nothing would profit me if I gain the whole world but forfeit my soul.
0:49
Absolutely nothing.

We continue on with our Romans sermon series with Romans chapter 10 verses 5 to 15.
0:07
And a question I have for us as we begin this, today's sermon is this.
0:12
Is there someone in your life who makes you feel really, really, really good about yourself? It's funny because I'll get back to that.
0:26
Like it's ironic that they would say that.
0:28
Um, There's someone I'm sure that in all of our lives, someone that we love being around because they just don't make us feel embarrassed about ourselves.
0:38
They don't make us feel ashamed about ourselves, unworthy about ourselves.
