11:53
That's awesome
11:54
...
11:54
but it, but it means that I'll have a, a solid framework to then take more risks in it so the, so the dual page spread where it's, um, the character Will meeting his daughter on the, on the streets, um, on her birthday.
12:09
So that- Um, was, it was kind of two people that I, for a reference for all the characters in that.
12:16
But it meant that I could have the likenesses and the expressions fairly accurate, but then do something with this spread where it's so Will's devoid of color where everything around him is vibrant, and he's done in this almost overly rendered way, whereas his daughter and these people are in a loose, more, um, kind of scratchy approach.
12:37
So it's, it's about having that framework and then I can push against that, and it can still kind of exist in a way where people hopefully aren't gonna pick it up and be like, "What the hell is this?" It's something that's hopefully, uh, interesting [laughs] to a reader, but still exists within the realm of comics.

6 MINS LATER

18:34
Right
18:34
...
5:58
Here's Calgary Police homicide detective, John Pearson.
6:01
Pearson. So we learned Mr. Leeming ended up speaking to a reporter from Global, and just watching the interaction, the first instinct that came to my mind was he thinks he's beaten us.
6:17
He thinks he's smarter than, than we are is what I took from it.
6:21
Uh, it, there was a, just an arrogance and bravado around him that I think because we released him at that time, he thought he'd gotten away with murdering these two people.

5 MINS LATER

11:53
A closer look at that video revealed disturbing images.
11:59
This is when things start taking a turn.
12:01
So from the CCTV, uh, one of the key ones we found was actually from one of the gas stations We're able to capture Mr. Leeming filling up a jerry can.
12:15
But when he actually opens the hatch of his vehicle, under the blanket, you can actually see what appeared to be the stock of a gun.
JustinHOST
44:53
What's kind of the way that you've been able to collab with him, like building this world out? You know, what's the tone that you're taking for this?
45:02
I mean, the collaboration with me and Zach is always very close-knit.
45:06
It was a mindset, and it is with this.
45:09
And I think both of us are on the same page when we want to do something that's interesting and something where...
45:17
the artwork pushes and elevates the story and does maybe some different things to maybe what you're reading as well.
45:23
I think for me, one of the most important things to try and do with my artwork is create work that can be revisited.
45:33
I think something that frustrates me a lot of the time is how some comics can be quite worn and thrown away like that's it there's not much potential to go back and read it again whereas I think with what me and Zach do we absolutely want to have that so with the artwork there is There's lots of little details in there that will signify things to come that you may or may not miss or not realize early on.

10 MINS LATER

56:14
What is your biggest challenge? I want to hear
6:30
However, it was quickly apparent to investigators that this case might be one of those rare 1%.
6:39
On April 24th, our missing persons team, in consultation with our sergeant, decided that there was enough red flags in this investigation that it should be transitioned to something a little bit more, uh, resourced, and that included bringing in the homicide unit.
6:57
We interview pretty much anyone that can give us information.
7:00
That includes exes, current boyfriends, girlfriends, current spouses, children, uh, grandparents, anyone that can give us information, especially on, uh, personality and habits of somebody.
7:14
So in regards to Aliyah, um, we did speak to her father, who was estranged from her at the time.
7:19
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to give us a lot of information for the habits of Jasmine or Aliyah at that time, and couldn't really help us any further.

16 MINS LATER

23:08
He told me they had to enter the home through the garage because they soon found out the front door had been barricaded from the inside.
23:18
The front entrance to that residence, there was a re- there was a, a recessed window within the door that was opaque and covered in cellophane.
5:55
Was it forced on you? [laughs] Did you choose to do it? What happened? How, what, what made it so that you g- were starting to draw comics and work in comics?
6:02
Uh, I mean, it's-It, it was kind of [laughs] partly by choice and partly, not forced upon me, but it's something that happens.
6:11
Um, so I, I started off kind of doing illustration and dabbling in comics.
6:17
And, um, I was doing that part-time while working another job.
6:22
And then over the years, slowly but surely, there was more comics work that came in, and now it's kind of escalated to a point where I don't do too much illustration stuff, it is just comics.
6:34
Like this year I've got, um, two series coming out, like in the space of a couple of weeks, and maybe something else as well after that that's [laughs] not, not announced yet.
6:45
Um, so it's, yeah, it's gone from, from very little to, um, a significant amount.

12 MINS LATER

19:16
[laughs]
44:02
Mm-hmm
44:02
... 'cause there are a lot of expectations on them.
44:04
It is a different world.
44:05
I think it's very difficult.
44:06
I think, I think they're also very smart, a lot of them, and they can figure it out.
44:12
And things that I worry about for them, they aren't even worrying about because they're, if they're focused, if they, if they're fortunate enough to have something they love to do, have a purpose or a goal or be passionate about something, I think that helps them a lot-

6 MINS LATER

50:26
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
50:26
They were the last, and it was fascinating to engage with their sort of stoicism and their dignity.
