Talk us through what happens when the casualties come into your care.
64:35
thanks john thanks for having me on i'm very happy to be involved in this initiative today and really what i outlined to the young people the ty students is exactly that what happens when they arrive into the emergency department and um we generally get a pre-alert from the ambulance service to say that somebody's arriving in and we set up our resuscitation team with a very well drilled team in the department with a team lead and one doctor allocated for airway management and one doctor allocated for getting in IV lines and doing procedures.
65:08
And we practice this regularly in the department and we teach a lot of trauma management.
65:13
And then it's really emphasizing the types of injuries that we see, head injuries, spinal injuries, significant abdominal injuries, amputations.
65:25
So the full spectrum and with the worst case scenario, of course, is that the patient will pass away.
66:41
When it comes to the worst case scenario, the loss of life, talk us through what happens then.
66:47
The difficulty with that really, loss of life or severe injury that we know early on is going to cause life altering, life changing, have life changing consequences, is talking to the relatives, talking to the family when they arrive up.
67:02
We have a designated relatives room, so the relatives will often be placed there while we're working on the relative and resource.
