So how do we think about that holistically to make sure that the information we do have isn't also being taken off of our local networks and sent back across to, to China?

Hmm.

Well, that's a challenge.

And, you know, just one, one other thing I would just add to what you're, uh, talking about is, you know, their talent recruitment.

Um, you know, they have one of the leading researchers, chemists from Harvard who's over there now, and they just recruited someone who's a leader in AI to head up a program.

We have, um, some of our business leaders of major companies who are on boards, um, of Chinese universities.

And, um, you'd have to say, how does that benefit the American people? And, uh, and what should be the guardrails when it comes to that? So I think in terms of talent, in terms of information, I think those are all things we need to look at.

I think it's a, it's a cultural moment where the, where the American people are more clear-eyed about this threat than they've ever been before.

What are, what are your observations about what China is doing right now?

Well, I think they're doing their usual thing.

They're trying to intimidate, they're trying to threaten neighbors and, and show off their military capabilities.

You know, their goal is to have a th- a thousand nuclear warheads, uh, by 2030, and, uh, we've seen them doing these kinds of tests more frequently.

I think that, uh, they're trying to show that they're, uh, the dominant pow- power in the region and, uh, it's a threat to the Indo-Pacific, it's a threat to the world.

And so, uh, I think it's one of those areas where we need to push back, and rightly so, the Trump administration is doing that.

Well, is this a message to the US that they have the capability to reach the continental United States?

It sure is.

Are you satisfied with that response?

I, I am not.

When you think of connected vehicles, when you think of all this technology, uh, these back doors, we've seen it in robots.

That's another area where China is trying to dominate that technology, and we've seen back doors in robots that would transmit information back to Chinese Communist interests.

Seems like a daunting task, then, to keep up with all the Chinese technology that is making it into the United States and trying to assess what the national security threat may or may not be for these technologies.

It's true, because so many of these are developing technologies and, and, you know, AI is, you know, talked about every day.

America has been in a leadership role in this, but we've viewed this as a sort of an open process where technologies are shared.

And ultimately, that works when everybody is abiding by the same rules.
