We need that considered and thoughtful look at the day's news.

Radio 4 audiences, despite this really, really difficult decision, a decision none of us want to make about the world tonight, are very well served with programs like Today, The World at One, PM, the 1800 Bulletin and Broadcasting House, The World This Weekend and others that have significantly larger reach.

And the crucial thing here is that we think in NewsHour we have a programme that can, as best we can, replace the programme that we're losing in the world tonight.

Worth also saying that this edition of NewsHour would be preceded by a domestic news bulletin for UK audiences, because often we'll get the question about agenda and coverage of UK news.
