So what are some other things that you think are important for NPs to know as we embark on this future and the possibilities with the GLP-1s and the other products that are coming out?

John MannaGUEST
Yeah, so I think, right, our number one job is to educate patients and then empower them.

John MannaGUEST
So it's really important to know how to mitigate some of those GI side effects that we've talked about.

John MannaGUEST
It's really important to be monitoring some labs, right? Like looking at their kidney function and their liver enzymes and looking at some of these micronutrients and then walking with them.

John MannaGUEST
So we should never prescribe it and say, I'm following up in six months, right? We should be following regularly.

John MannaGUEST
And a lot of times it's helpful when we can do this kind of as a team and help one another out.

John MannaGUEST
and building that relationship with these patients as we're following up regularly, then we can hopefully mitigate anything sooner rather than later.

You know, why is it so useful with chronic disease? We talked about diet and exercise, but it sounds like what you do is you're actually going through each of those six pillars, am I correct, with each patient?

John MannaGUEST
So a, a little bit about what I do specifically, and it definitely works differently depending upon, you know, what work setting you're in or what organization you work for or if, you know, you're at a private practice.

John MannaGUEST
I consult patients, so their primary care specialist might send them to me for a specific disease or condition, but we're gonna walk through each of those pillars and we're gonna see, you know, are there ways that we can grow or make improvements upon it, so we do a really big intake.
