You don't need this"?
23:07
Y- yeah, that's a huge question, but I love it.
23:10
And the thing I tell people, if you think going to higher education is about skill acquisition, right? That is not what education is about.
23:21
You, you could sit down over a weekend with a YouTube channel and learn how to use an airbrush or learn how to use After Effects or whatever.
23:27
So yes, all schools will give you some part of Skill acquisition or data transfer, knowledge, whatever that is.
23:37
The, the real secret sauce of any education is actually community.
23:43
It is actually the thing that happens together that where you are actually interrogating basically, "Why am I doing any of this?" Right? And y- you actually need people, you need mentors, and you need a community to help you think about not just, "How do I make a comic look good?" But, "Why am I doing this to begin with?" And that, and that's actually a liberal arts question.

H- how do you apply that to Christianity? Are you saying that the very basics of what you believe fundamentally are coming from Christianity above anything else?
10:28
How have you used that in your book? Yeah.
10:32
Oh, yeah.
10:32
Well, I mean, anytime you're trying to tell a story, whether or not most of my books are nonfiction, right? They they are trying to tell the reader something that's true about the world.
10:43
I'm basically a translator.
10:46
I I'm not a scholar.
10:47
I mean, I make these things as a work of art.
10:50
So I'm reading secondary sources.

8 MINS LATER

18:57
What encouraged you to move into, use your art in a faith-based way?
24:09
Okay
24:09
... and it's the same thing with Tolkien and Lewis.
24:10
Like, there have been so many, uh, hundreds of books about the Inklings, about these two men, and there is always a bit of intimidation of, like, am I Am I able to add anything? Am I able to take this story and make it my own? And there's a lot of doubt that comes in any project.
24:29
And, and then you get past that and you think, "I'm going to do this." You start reading and researching, and it's just an avalanche of information.
24:36
Um, and of course, with, with Faithful Spy, it was primarily a single, uh, biography.
24:42
I mean, it- Hitler was sort of a co-character along with Dietrich in that story.
24:47
But in this book, it is fully a, like, cradle to the grave story of two men with really complicated lives.
25:34
Actually, why don't you, could you give us a little overview for our listeners or viewers who haven't yet gotten their hands on the book? Like, tell us a little bit about how this is presented, 'cause it is so unique.
