What is the problem with open borders? Isn't open borders a compassionate idea?

Well, I don't have a problem with immigration.

I have an issue with lawbreaking.

And the lawbreaking has to be principled, and it is principled because the government can't do everything for everybody.

The government has practical constraints.

Romans 19 stipulates that the government has the responsibility of the sword.

Romans 13.

And I think that's so enlightening when you realize that just because you have these commands to say, turn the other cheek or love your enemies, that doesn't mean that the government shouldn't do its role of securing justice to protect innocent people from evil.

Can you kinda give us an overview of the, of the major views?

Well, there's, there's a couple views out there, different gradations of how to view Israel today.

Um, of course, you've got this long history with Israel.

Israel divided, was conquered, um, a- and many times over, and just a really mixed up, messy, ugly history, but it all fulfills prophecy given in the time of Moses.

And the question is, is there an even deeper covenant promise through Abraham that God has maintained throughout the whole history of Israel to where there's still something that he hasn't given up on with Israel yet in the future? And that's really the key question where the church still divides.

Some say that God has replaced Israel with the church.

Others would say that he has grafted the church, uh, Gentiles into the Jews to create the church that is today.

Yeah, yeah.

But let me just ask you, why is it so important to think of the abortion issue as being so much more than just a political lightning rod?

Well, there's a couple of reasons.

For one, churches will tend to stay away from it as long as they have labeled it politics and they get concerned about their tax exempt status for involving themselves too much in politics.

that is a myth.

It's not really the case.

Churches have plenty of freedom to talk about ethically charged issues, whether they're politicized or not.

The church has full freedom to address that.

Talk about that aspect of it, because Planned Parenthood, for instance, was founded by Margaret Sanger, who openly advocated that viewpoint.
