What was your first conversation with Bonnie like? Did she immediately embrace the idea of telling her life story and the story of the song, or did it take time to earn her trust?

Well, it, uh, there's a lot of history that goes into this book.

Uh, I mean, I was first aware of Bonnie Dobson, I think in about '65, you know.

And, and, uh, seeing her on television performing, uh, with folk music in, in Canada, folk music songs, Oscar Brand kind of shows and that sort of thing.

And, and hearing Morning Dew, which I think came out in about '63 or so on, on her third album.

But I was aware of the story around it, um, and aware of the fact that, that it was, uh, a controversy involved.

I mean, I became more aware of the controversy when, as a, as a, a hard rock guitar player in '68 playing in a band that, that did the Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart version of, of Morning Dew off the Beck Truth album and, and it said Tim Rose on it.

How difficult is it for young readers to appreciate just how revolutionary somebody like Bob Dylan and eventually Bonnie herself really were?
