if they inherit the house.

Yes.

Well, uh, there is talk, uh, that they will increase the th- tax thresholds.

At the moment, the tax, free, tax-free threshold from parent to child is four hundred thousand.

Now, as we were saying earlier, it used to be over five hundred thousand.

So there's a lot of pressure, uh, to increase the thresholds, and I think they will be increased.

Now, I should mention that there is a family home relief if quite often there are elderly parents and there's a child that, uh, uh, that hasn't got married and they're living at home caring for the elderly parents.

He might grow out of it.

Yeah.

"And what happens if someone else has access to my voice clone? What happens if I am no longer here?" And we've put together some guiding principles for patients.

So in Alice's case, as I recall, I handed you our, our principles so you understood what others have indicated are maybe concerns with privacy or autonomy or control.

What's it like to hear that, John?

It's wonderful to hear, and it harkens back to when we were sitting in my office and we first created the voice, and the smiles, the laughter, the tears that represented preservation of self, the ability to continue to have that acoustical fingerprint that is the reflection of who we are.

So John, tell me, just tell the audience a little bit about yourself and kind of your background and kind of how your world runs.

Yeah, so you hit on kind of the highlights of it.

I live here in Tallahassee, Florida, have been here pretty much consistently since I came to college in 99.

And then I had the pleasure of meeting you and inviting you into our fraternity a couple of years later after I got there.

But did undergrad and graduate school here, studied political science and both.

Took a little detour off the political and policy side and started my career over at Eglin Air Force Base doing federal weapons systems development and acquisition.

which sounds really neat, but it was living or working in a classified building with no windows and a four person cubicle with people that I was 20 years younger with at best.

And the executor, John, is usually the person who the deceased person has kind of charged with executing the will

and their wishes.

Yeah, what it would mean is it's normally the surviving spouse or partner, or else it could be one or more children if it's a family.

And basically their duty is to sign a statement of affairs, setting out the assets and liabilities in the estate, to sign an affidavit confirming that the will is valid and confirming the gross assets in the estate, And you lodge those two documents with the original will in the probate office.

Now, the probate you talked about delays there.

And I have been ringing around colleagues around the country and the delays seem to be between two months and four months.

Generally, the figures I've been given and Dublin is about two months, Galway three months.

For those who haven't read about the report yet, can you lay out what it actually is?

Absolutely.

So broad strokes, Wirescreen was able to take from about 800,000 procurement records specifically focused on Chinese military procurement, what they're buying.

And this ranges from things like non-perishable foodstuffs in Hainan to things like advanced compute.

I was able to look at that and narrow this down into a funnel of about 3,800 records that principally deal with high-end compute where the PLA is looking to buy very advanced chips.

We're able to narrow that down even further to 540 instances where the PLA specifically calls out an NVIDIA chip by name or an export-controlled chip by name.

From that subset, which is a floor, not a ceiling, this is only the times where they've specifically cited an export-controlled chip or put out specs that could only be an export-controlled chip.

What does this all reveal about the role export controls can and can't play?
