Commonwealth Park is

one that probably was created in someone's mind before I even thought of coming into politics.

I remember a conversation before I was in politics, probably as I was being wooed with Fabian Picardo and we were having a word and I said, wouldn't it be wonderful to have green areas at the base of the city walls? Because I remember going to Ronda and as you go up to Ronda, the city walls at the base have a garden area.

And then as we were preparing the first manifesto, Fabian said, we've got to do this park.

And it became part of the manifesto.

At the time, it was going to be with an underground car park.

But then we realized that in order to make the park we want, that would compromise it.

Describe then the kind of relationship between Gibraltar and Morocco.

What do you think are gonna be the biggest changes we see in re- in practice in Gibraltar?

Well, uh, to me as an environmentalist, the fact that the treaty, uh, obliges us to keep to EU standards and we actually go better than EU in some areas, uh, it gives me great comfort and I think it's, it's good for Gibraltar and for Gibraltar's environment.

Um, it, it gives it, uh, perhaps a, a [laughs]To the proper channels.

Mm.

Um, so I'm not defending it.

I'm just saying that my department is certainly holding them accountable.

I absolutely agree.

Um, the, the running of any marina there, and the r- marina is much reduced thanks to pressure from our department than they originally proposed.
