So why don't you kick us off and just let us know a little bit about yourself and how you got into all this.

John BotrosGUEST
So yeah, I've been an aquatic biologist in Texas now for a little over 28 years.

John BotrosGUEST
I volunteered for a guy named Richard Kiesling counting bugs in his research lab.

and uh and it was a interesting project you know i but i it was a lot of work and uh i just stuck my face to the to the to the microscope and i you know i got it done and richard you know noticed my work ethic and he hired me on to uh to the team so uh next you know i'm evaluating water rights permits that you know that people are uh are sending in for water projects at the tcq and uh uh where we would review them for environmental impacts we protect in-stream uses and environmental flows to the bays so uh those are the big the big things we look at with those with those water rights permits um i learned quite quickly that you know that the uh environment in texas gets balanced uh sometimes fairly sometimes not and uh so it was a, it was a good learning curve.

John BotrosGUEST
I really learned the nuts and bolts of the water, water law, Texas, how, you know, where, how water flows in the state and how rain driven we are and, you know, groundwater dependent as well.
