Can you give an example where you really saw that at work?
3:39
So one of the things that I say is communicating with human beings is not logical.
3:47
You may have noticed.
3:48
It's not logical, it's biological, and until you understand the biology...
3:55
Once you understand the biology, you can make it logical to some degree, but people who go in thinking logic by itself should win, well, maybe it should, but it doesn't, and they're just never gonna be as effective with human beings as people who understand there's something else.
4:12
And in real life, just to bring this down to brass tacks, tell me if you've ever had an experience like this.
4:19
"Do you like the product?" "Oh, yeah, we like it." "Do you think it's priced right?" "Oh, yeah.
7:02
We all have a monkey mind.
3:23
And from your perspective, why is communication bio-friendly? logical.
3:30
So you're absolutely right.
3:31
I mean, I think that is the red meat of my training.
3:34
I do a lot of work with people who are super logical engineers, you know, finance people, just all these super logical people.
3:44
And I always, you know, the, the, I mean, I realized myself at a certain point that communicating with human beings is not logical and right? I mean, you've noticed it's not logical, it's biological.
4:03
And when you understand the biology, you can make it logical again, but anybody who goes in thinking logic by itself should win.
4:11
Well, maybe you could make the argument that it should, but that doesn't mean it will.

33:22
yeah.
4:23
how, how can, uh, what are some of the, what are some of the tools, uh, that people can use to when they are nervous going into, whether it's a speaking event or, uh, uh, just to even just a conversation, um, How can someone overcome nerves?
4:47
So this is a great question.
4:50
And that advice from Snoop Doggy Dog was some of the best advice I ever got in my life about leadership, about public speaking, just about life, right? Don't be nervous.
5:02
be it their service.
5:04
And I got the same advice a little while later from one of the top leadership coaches anywhere in the world.
5:10
And she said it a little differently.
5:12
She said, John, if you get up on stage and you have your attention on yourself, then you have your attention on a minor ball of petty concerns that's of no real interest to anyone but you.
9:03
But how big of a role does that play?
12:10
Yeah.
12:11
So... it's like 2001 or so and i am in it's early early 2001 and i am in san francisco ucsf hospital and the doctors are looking at me like they're scared And I think that I am probably going to die because of how they're looking at me and what they're telling me.
12:43
And I look back over my life like people do, and I realize that okay, I've been a nice guy.
12:54
I really don't think I was evil or bad, but man, I was just super selfish.
13:00
It was always about me.
13:01
I'm going to succeed.
13:02
I'll take you with me, but it's about me, me, me.
