And a cat owner, as you said, trying to wield the stick to get through the required legislation to make sure that our feline companions don't lag behind their doggy equivalents.

So anyone who knows me knows that I am persistent.
5:35
So listen, it's always difficult in Parliament when the government's got a huge number of new bills that it is trying to get through.
5:46
And trying to clear up the mess of previous governments is always a battle for priorities.
5:50
But every time I see the Secretary of State for DEFRA, she says one word to me, and that is cats.
5:59
And then she says, I know.
6:01
So every time I see colleagues who are members of the government, I press them on the issues that John's been speaking about in the reception earlier today.

Do you think that it's taking this constant uphill struggle for people to act and do something responsible like this?

Use weapons.
20:53
Absolutely.

So I think one of the important things about the UK sanctions that took place the other day was that a lot of those related to some of the misinformation through the Russian foreign interference manipulation and interference, uh, entity.
21:11
So I think that is really important because that is part of Russia's strategy is to simply erase Ukrainian culture either by forcibly taking the children, indoctrinating them, or militarizing them.
21:26
In terms of the children that have been taken, we need to continue with the tracing mechanism.
21:31
Uh, one of the things I was very pleased to get a commitment to last year was for government, UK government support for the tracing pilot mechanism that we are, um, supporting Ukraine with that has since identified 600 of the children that have been taken.
21:48
Um, and that's why you've seen the official statistics in terms of the numbers taken creep up because it, it's actually more reflective of the numbers that have been taken now because we now know where those children are.

But I think it's blatantly clear that this egregious denial of rights for children, an attempt to deny them their culture, their origins, hop back to the worst kinds of behavior, to deeply colonial behavior, and it's deeply, deeply offensive." Would you use that term genocide to what happens to the children in Ukraine? And do you think the government should? Is that cowardice that they're not?
