Growing up in your culture, in your family, like, how did you view or internalize this concept? I'm talking about before you were in that kind of relationship.
5:48
Mm-hmm.
5:51
Yeah, I think it's one of those things that, um, it's not explicit, but just kind of these cues throughout, um, my lifetime.
6:03
Um- You know, the, in the film there's a kind of, um [laughs] in the film some of the, the participants talk about like, "Oh, you don't wanna be staying too long in the sun because you'll get dark."
10:24
Yeah
10:24
... who are in that kind of dynamic.

So what did you learn from interviewing each of these couples in the different cities and their stories?
3:14
Yes, I wanted to have... couples that were in different stages of their relationship.

In Toronto, we have a couple that did long distance relationships.
3:35
for a couple of years, and then they moved in together at the height of the pandemic.
3:39
So that kind of cohabitation after being in their separate cities is like an interesting dynamic, rife with its own issues of just living with another person.
3:51
And then a married couple with two children in Vancouver And I was really interested in like, what are those conversations that they have around race, privilege, class, those different phases of their lives.

What has your own personal experience been like dating someone who is white?
