Open your Bibles to Judges chapter 11.

Now, Judges gives us kind of a really good background into this guy's life.

Not all the stories have this kind of background, but it's important to understand who this guy is if you're going to understand the lesson and the teaching God has for you.

His name was Jephthah, and his early life is defined for us starting in Judges 11, verse 1.

Jephthah the Gilead was a mighty warrior.

His father was Gilead.

Open your Bibles to the book of Judges.

Yes, I said the book of Judges.

Can you believe it? For those of you who may not be familiar that much with this Old Testament book, it's kind of scrunched in there.

It's really a unique book because it's really just a compilation of individual stories that happen over a period of 400 years.

Yet these stories are so illustrative of who we are, who Christ is, and the work that Christ has done for us, and what we need to know about it.

You know, the most important thing we can have as Christ followers is such a clear understanding of our salvation.

May we be challenged and inspired by the power of His Word.

I am incredibly grateful to be here, and not just because of my close relationship with Nathan and Beck.

But whenever we gather together like this, each one of us individually needs to have this expectation.

Jesus wants to say something to me, not just to us, but to me.

He knows your unique situation right now.

He knows your story.

He knows your fears.

oh, I don't have that.

I know when you sit for a long time you have to do like some stretches for your body.

I'm not sure what those are, but whatever your mental gymnastic stretches you need to do, right now for the next 30 seconds do that, because I'm going to kind of take you through something for the next few minutes.

Just get your brain ready, because what I want to do in the next few minutes is give you a framework that will enable you during this week and weeks to come, dig deeper into the Word.

And to have that framework, you've got to kind of put your thinking cap on.
