But tell everybody who you are, because I think there's some people that are my listeners that have not read any of the hospitable host books and some of the amazing things that you've done in this industry and would like to learn a little bit about who you are and your space in the hospitality and how you're helping everybody elevate it.

Yeah, sure.

Well, first off, thanks for having me on, Jo.

I am also very excited to be chatting with you.

We've worked together on one project already.

So to be sitting here now with you and talking about everything that's going on is fantastic.

So first off, I'm a host like many of your listeners.

So what is the hospitality summit and what what made you think like this is what I want to do?

... that fundamentally changed the way that you host or think about hosting today?

Yes, definitely.

So the biggest one for me was I didn't have a direct booking website, and I didn't correc- collect emails when people came to stay.

So I did rely on the OTAs, and, you know, it did work for me.

Um, but once things started to get more difficult, as in the bookings slowed down because there was more competition, I wasn't doing the right things to keep up with the, um-- to keep the algorithm up on Airbnb.

Because really when you have a lot of direct bookings, you, you wouldn't be getting, you know, super host on Airbnb or, 'cause you don't fit that criteria anymore because you've gone off and you're getting bookings from, uh, elsewhere.

Um, so the biggest thing for me was collecting emails on arrival.

Mm-hmm.

[laughs]

Sitting here.

It's always close by.

And I've got the, the last one [laughs] here as well.

So yeah, what gave me the idea? So again, in lockdown, we all had extra time in lockdown, right? I started connecting in a women's group online, and it was for entrepreneurial women, and we all started talking, and it was actually [laughs] to...

It was called Rock the Mic, and it was about getting yourself visible and getting online.

Now, I know a lot of people know who I am in the industry, but I don't necessarily...

So how does Host Buddy or your system handle things that need escalating?
