Is there an actual legal definition for a ceasefire in international law? And is that word the same as a truce? Is there a difference?

So ceasefire as a technical term, it's not really, um, doesn't have an international law definition.

It's used a lot by the press.

Uh, it's used a lot by, you know, politicians.

Um, and usually what it means is the suspension of hostilities.

And so the term you asked about, a truce, a truce basically is an agreement between, you know, the parties to a conflict to Stop or to interrupt the war or using the means of warfare, uh, for a stated period, uh, of time, right? And so that's what a truce is.
