Can we start there and talk about that history?

Sure.

So here at Little Buffalo, we have what we call a historic district, where we have several historic assets.

We have, of course, the Schoeff's Mill, which is the, uh, the mainstay of the park.

It is what we're known for, largely speaking.

It's in a lot of our graphics and, and, uh, media.

We love promoting the mill.

Um, what are some of those that a visitor would find here at Little Buffalo?

What do you both love the most about the park?

Oh, my favorite thing about the park, it's kind of a, it's, it's maybe a corny answer, but I, uh, really would say the people.

Um, this is my first year at Little Buffalo, but I've been with the bureau since 2016.

Um, and really the people are what, uh, keeps me coming back on a, on a daily basis to the job.

Um, recently at the Little Buffalo Apple Festival, just connecting with the community at large, having so many, uh, positive, energizing conversations with the community and, uh, it really just, it k- it keeps, uh, me as an employee of the state park system kind of grounded in, in why I wanted to do this in the first place.

And, um, really that's, that's, um, you know, part of our mission and why we're here is the people.

That is my favorite part of the job.

If a visitor has a full weekend to explore the park, what would you recommend they do?

On May 8th, 2001, Jim Eckert is fresh off a transatlantic flight.

Pat Anderson picked me up, and what happened was, I said, "What's going on now?" Because I'd been out of the country.

She said, "Oh, well, you have two depositions tonight." I said, "Are you crazy? I just flew from Ireland over here."

(laughs)

I, I didn't like his philosophy of life.

I know he was pro-death.

I treated him professionally, but I, I didn't like the guy at all.
